Mister King Movie Review
A small film named Mr. King, starring debutant Sharan Kumar in the lead role, has hit the screens. It is written, edited, and directed by Sasiidhar Chavali. Let’s see how it is.
Story :
Shiva (Sharan Kumar) is a man of principles, ethics, integrity, rules, and standards. He studies aeronautical engineering and also does a part-time job as a Radio Jockey. Shiva wishes to make a difference in the field of aerospace through his Project Vayu and works hard towards fulfilling his ambition. During this, two girls Uma Devi (Yasvika Nishkala), and Vennela (Urvi Singh), come into his life. Both girls, who happen to be cousins, fall for Shiva, which turns his life upside down. What did Shiva do then? Whom did Shiva like out of both the girls? Did Shiva achieve his goal? The movie has the answers.
Plus Points :
The movie marks the debut of actor Sharan Kumar, and he is okay in the given role. As a youngster who leads life by his own set of principles and moral standards, the actor’s performance is alright. Vennela Kishore’s comedy punches are a relief in the first hour.
Among the two lead actresses, Yasvika Nishkala got a comparatively better role, and the actress was decent as Uma Devi. Her scenes with Murali Sharma towards the end are okay. Tanikella Bharani and Murali Sharma did what was expected of them.
Minus Points :
The movie’s main drawback is its storyline, which doesn’t have a head or tail. The narrative keeps moving without any proper flow, and it seems more like some random scenes are put together. The scene-to-scene transition is clearly missing, and hence things seem completely out of place.
The characterization of Kota Factory fame Urvi Singh is not well written, and the actress is hardly seen in the movie. Mr. King is filled with many unwanted scenes that causes boredom, and it is hard to understand what the makers wanted to convey by the end of the movie.
The film also becomes too preachy, and the never-ending conversations are tiresome. Mr. King tries to provide solutions to every aspect related to career, relationships, and marriages, which has worked against the movie big time.
The length is another disadvantage, and many scenes could have been edited out in both halves. The placement of songs is bad, and also, a talented artist like Sunil is not well utilized. As Murali Sharma didn’t dub for his role, the impact was missing.
Technical Aspects :
The background score by Mani Sharma is decent. But at times, it dominates the proceedings. The cinematography by Tanvir Anzum is fine, and so are the production values. The editing is also done by the director Sasiidhar Chavali which is below par.
The major thing that could have been a lot better is the movie’s story which is penned by Sasiidhar Chavali. The narrative isn’t any different, and it keeps jumping from one scene to another erratically. In addition, the emotions could have been presented in a better manner.
Verdict :
On the whole, Mr. King is a tiresome watch that lacks a proper storyline and execution. The lead actor Sharan and his scenes with Tanikella Bharani were watchable. But apart from that rest of the movie is a total disappointment. You can skip the film this weekend.
