Story :
Bangarraju (Karthik Ratnam), is a bike mechanic in Duggada, Narsipatnam, a place where everyone is in pursuit of colour stones. One day, after a disagreement with Somu Naidu (Raj Tirandasu), things turn dark when Somu Naidu is found murdered.
Police arrest Bangarraju, but he manages to escape. Later, he’s on a mission to find the real killer. Who is the accused? How Tatarao (Satya) and Gateelu (Ravi Babu) are connected to the story? What happened next? Watch the movie to find the answers.
Plus Points :
Director Satish Varma’s chooses an interesting premise. Karthik Ratnam delivers a standout performance, with his flawless dialogue delivery stealing the spotlight.
Satya’s portrayal as Karthik Ratnam’s sidekick deserves applause, evoking genuine laughter through his expressions and dialogue delivery. Ravi Babu’s entry in the second half adds a dose of entertainment, and the supporting cast delivers fine performances.
Minus Points :
While the story holds promise, its narration leaves much to be desired. Crime comedy films often raise expectations, but in this instance, the director grapples to strike the right balance.
Satish Varma’s writing exhibits finesse, but the execution falls short in delivering a gripping screenplay, a pivotal component for this genre. The innovative approach of narrating the story from different perspectives loses its impact when the film’s pace lags in both halves.
Characters portrayed by Goldie Nissy, Nitya Sri, and Ajay could have been more intricately developed to enrich the film’s depth. Despite their on-screen presence, their contribution to the plot remains somewhat muted. Satya’s comedic potential could have been fully harnessed to amplify the film’s entertainment quotient. Additionally, the film’s sole song leaves a forgettable impression.
Technical Aspects :
While Satish Varma shines as a writer, his directorial prowess could have been more robust. A more engaging screenplay could have significantly enhanced the film’s overall impact.
The musical score by Krishna Saurabh and the cinematography by Sundar NC meet the requirements. However, crisper editing by Karthik Vunnava would have injected more dynamism into the narrative. Nevertheless, the film shines in terms of production values.
Verdict :
On the whole, Changure Bangaru Raja is a half-baked crime comedy drama. While Karthik Ratnam’s performance and the comedic timing of Satya and Ravi Babu are noteworthy, the film is impeded by its sluggish narration and unnecessary scenes. If you are okay with these, give the film a watch but keep your expectations low.
